LPMV lamps available in a wide variety of configurations, but share the following characteristics:
1) The envelope of the lamp is made from glass (either quartz or soft)
2) The lamp is filled with argon gas, an argon/neon mix, or special rare gas mix
3) A small amount of mercury (liquid or solid) is inside the lamp. Depending on the type of LPMV lamp, this ranges from <10mg up to 100mg.
4) A filament or electrodes is present inside the lamp envelope
5) The base of the lamp (or a base at both ends) brings incoming current from the power source to the electrodes or filaments inside the lamp
