The Flexible Data Rate standard is covered by ISO specification 11898-2. The ISO compliant TESEO product is OBE-FD, an extender over fibre which can reproduce communications both in High-Speed mode (up to 1MB/s) and Flex-Data mode (up to 5MB/s).
Each extender system consists of:
• 2 pcs OBE-FD: two identical Rx/Tx units. They are shielded and battery powered to be independent from the bus power source, for example the vehicle battery.
• 1 pc CB12: battery chargers, to recharge the OBE rechargeable battery. To be recharged, the battery can be easily removed and recharged apart. The CB12 has two battery slots.
• FBxxx: a bifiber cable, part number FBxxx, with xxx equal to the length expressed in meters. The standard cable is the 10 meters long FB010
The connections of the OBE-FD’s to the electrical bus are a customer’s responsibility. The use of short twisted shielded wires is recommended Optionally, the OBE-FD shielded module can be connected via optic fibre to a transceiver electrically identical, but contained in a plug-in that can be inserted into a standard 19 inch rack, to ease its control by a control room.
