MINSTER Model SCRB-68 is an electronic control unitdesigned to provide controlled excitation for eddy cur-rent coupling type variable speed drives. These con-trols are compatible with Dynamatic, Louis-AllisAdjusto-Spede and Torspec drives and with WERdrives that are equipped with special 90 volt D.C. cou-pling coils. The control consists of a rugged metal hous-ing. The SCRB-68 control may be used with drivesrequiring up to 900 watts at 90 volts D.C.
To briefly describe operation, a portion of a regulatedvoltage supply, selected by a speed adjusting poten-tiometer, and a rectified feedback voltage from atachometer generator connected to the drive outputshaft, are compared. The error signal obtained is usedto control a silicon controlled rectifier to energize thecoupling. If the reference portion is greater thantachometer feedback, the coupling is turned "ON." Ifthe tachometer feedback is greater, the coupling isturned "OFF" to produce less output torque and theoptional eddy current brake is fired, to allow outputshaft slowdown.
